Earlier this year our staff participated in a CPR & First Aid course. Pictures shall be uploaded soon. We learnt alot from the class and feel comforted to know that in times of a crisis or emergency we are able to react accordingly. We were trained by: http://www.cprbahamas.com/ and found them to be professional, friendly and very knowledgable with the interaction and the information they provided us.
This is the actual meeting day which was held on April 11th 2012 at The British Colonial Hilton here in Nassau, Bahamas. AFD Management Services Ltd. was the host company for this event and assisted with arrangements and execution of schedule. There were various companies being represented from throughout the region (Barbados, Bermuda, Puerto Rico just to name a few) and the meeting was educational as well as HIGHLY enjoyable for all in attendance. AFD Management Services Ltd, was also awarded the coveted Tiger Performance Award for 2011. Hooray!!!
This was a CSD Excercise conducted by AFD Management Services Lt.d. This was for demonstration purposes for the 2nd day of the 2012 Contractors Safety Meeting. The Safety Meeting was held 11-12th April 2012 here in Nassau, Bahamas. While transporting an ice beverage machine to the shop for repairs, a technician suffered a brief back pain while lifting the machine from the service vehicle to the work area. The machine is very heavy and bulky, very awkward for one person to lift properly. The machine was in the side entrance to the service vehicle when the technician reached in singlehandedly and lifted it out then spun around to place it on the service bench. The angle in which the machine was lifted and being held made it difficult for the technician to place the machine on top of the work bench which was too high for the technician to reach at that position by himself. The technician tried to reposition himself which resulted in him suffering temporary muscle pain in his back. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 1) The Technician did not assess the task properly in relation to the weight of the equipment and the height of the work bench. 2) Did not request assistance, JSA indicates that this is a two person task 3) Did not use proper lifting techniques WHAT TO TAKE AWAY FROM THIS: 1. Conduct a proper LMRA 2. Insure that adequate manpower is available prior to commencing task 3. Keep Focused and avoid over exertion – use proper lifting techniques 4. Always think of what could go wrong and the consequences for improper actions On October 25th 2011 Afd Management Services was awarded with ExxonMobil Wrist Watches as prizes for being the winners of the Alerta!! Safety Challenge 2011. Congrats to one of our valued employees Mr. Shelioaja Smith for attenting and completing this one day workshop.
